Firefighter Minimum Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent Firefighter recruitment poster showing images of firefighters in training and action, with hiring information for Menlo Park Fire.
  • Class C or higher US driver’s license (CA required by time of hire)
  • EMT or Paramedic License (National Registry or California)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certificate
  • Valid CPAT (other physical agility tests may be accepted)
  • Passing score on the written exam

Firefighter Compensation:

  • EMTs  $118,344—$141,907
  • Paramedics $131,317—$154,879
  • Ideal schedule: 48 hrs on, 96 hrs off
  • Six 48 hours shifts of paid time off per year
  • Family paid health coverage up to  $2375.72/month
  • Defined pension (CalPERS)
  • Retiree medical funds
  • Continuing education funds
