Firefighter Minimum Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent Firefighter recruitment poster showing images of firefighters in training and action, with hiring information for Menlo Park Fire.
  • Class C or higher US driver’s license (CA required by time of hire)
  • EMT or Paramedic License (National Registry or California)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certificate
  • Valid CPAT (other physical agility tests may be accepted)
  • Passing score on the written exam

Firefighter Compensation:

  • EMTs  $123,041—$149,557
  • Paramedics $132,415—$160,952
  • Ideal Schedule: 48 hours on, 96 hours off
  • Six, 48-hour shifts of Paid Time Off per Year
  • Family Paid Health Coverage (up to $2,983.91/month)
  • Defined Pension (CalPERS)
  • Retiree Medical Funds
  • Continuing Education Funds
