Board of Directors

The District Board of Directors is charged with providing strategic leadership, policy and direction, and fiscal oversight. Directors are elected at-large and serve four year staggered terms with elections held every two years. The President is the presiding officer, appoints committee members and liaisons, and sets Board agendas and goals.

Meeting 

The Menlo Park Fire Protection District holds Board Meetings on the third Tuesday of every month at 7:00 PM in the classroom located at 300 Middlefield Road, Menlo Park, CA 94025. Committee meetings are held on the first Tuesday of every month. Any exceptions will be posted on the website in advance.

The Board welcomes public comment at the beginning of each regularly scheduled Board meeting. Each person who wishes to speak may complete a Request to Speak card, which can usually be found inside the meeting room. Each speaker will be allotted up to three minutes to speak and no action will be taken by the board. The board agenda is posted on the District's website the Thursday before the monthly board meeting. Past Agendas and Minutes can be viewed by meeting date. Special Recognition

The Board recognizes the importance of acknowledging individuals and organizations who have made commendable endeavors, and/or substantial contributions to our community. The Board will award certificates of commendation to honor remarkable accomplishments, exceptional service, and significant community events, including, but not limited to:

  • Acts of heroism
  • Significant community contributions and events
  • Local organizations with significant impact on the District
  • Community members retiring with ample years of service to the community

All requests will be reviewed by the Fire Chief or their designated representative. Approved requests will be added to the Board meeting agenda for a vote. A majority vote from the Board is required for approval. Once approved, District staff will prepare the formal certificate of commendation for the Board's signature. The Board has the option to present the honoree(s) at a specific Board meeting.
