Director Rob Silano
A public safety professional, Mr. Silano has over 45 years of combined public safety and emergency management experience.
In the past, Mr. Silano was an Intelligence Officer as a Senior National Security Intelligence Analyst for the Northern California Regional Intelligence Center in San Francisco, CA. Additionally, he served as the Chief of Threat Intelligence assigned to the Northern California Regional Intelligence Center, representing the California Emergency Management Agency. The NCRIC is one of 77 DHS Fusion Centers specializing in research involving the terrorism threat and emergency management situations as it relates to law enforcement, fire, public health, emergency services and the private industry.
He currently holds a “TOP SECRET” Federal Government Clearance.
As an elected official, Director Silano serves on the Menlo Park Fire Protection District in San Mateo County, since 2011. In that capacity, he serves on the Emergency Prep and Facilities Committees. Currently in 2021, Director Silano has been appointed to the Fire District’s Association of California as a voting member of their Board of Directors and the San Mateo Pre- Medical: Joint Powers Act, as a board member for Ambulance and fire services related to the county.
Additional past duties included past President and Vice President of the fire district. He was a voting member of the Board of Directors for the California Special Districts Association, Bay Area Network, serving on their Legislative - Financial Committees.
As a San Mateo County Commissioner, Mr. Silano serves on the " Oversight Commission of the San Mateo County Sheriff's Office."
As a private safety professional, Mr. Silano has served in various capacities within Emergency Management, Loss Prevention, Security Operations and Corporate Investigations. He holds positions on company boards of directors.
Mr. Silano has had experience in domestic and international operations as a former U.S. Department of Justice Special Agent with the Drug Enforcement Administration. Former Special Agent Silano has held positions as a City of Miami Police Officer, Task Force Commander, Police Instructor, Supervisory Special Agent, and a Senior Manager with the U.S. Department of Justice, DEA. He holds a Baccalaureate and Master's Degrees, and is a graduate of the FBI National Academy Session 158.
A resident of Menlo Park since 1988, married, having 2 grown children, and grandchildren.
