After 16 Years – The Annual Night Time Firefighting Demonstration Returns to cap off the Fire District’s 100 Year Anniversary!
The annual Fire District “night drill” dates all the way back to the 1930’s but is best captured in the attached photographs from the 1950’s when Menlo Park Fire Station 1 was located on Merrill Street, where the Menlo Center Building now sits at 1010 El Camino Real, the current home of Keplers Book Store and Café Borrone.
The annual night show was one of the highlights of the year for the entire community, long before television, the internet and handheld devices dominated people’s attention.
Come join us for an eventful evening of firefighting demonstrations that include rappelling, auto extrication, a high rise fire and rescue and many other highly visual demonstrations for both the young and old alike as we cap off our 100th Anniversary in service to the communities of Atherton, East Palo Alto, Menlo Park and Unincorporated County Areas.
